Make Sure You Have Fun
Always ensure you have fun when you are playing. Try to learn songs that you enjoy listening too, this will help you along the way as you will want to practice more when you actually enjoy playing. Guitar is a difficult instrument to become proficient at playing, it’s not something that comes over night. You have to invest alot of yourself and your time into it to get the most out of it. The internet has been spammed with crash courses that say they can teach you to master the guitar overnight. Though some of these courses will have excellent exercises that will improve your playing, it takes years to master the guitar! There are literally thousands upon thousands of chords and techniques that can be played. Not to mention so many different styles. It takes a few months just to build up good callouses.

Keep It Simple
If you try to learn things that are maybe above your current skill it will take you longer to advance. So keep the things you are trying to learn simple and eventually you will be able to build on those simple things and learn more advanced chord shapes, scales and songs.

Perfect Practice Makes Perfect
There is this saying that goes “practice makes perfect”, but it simply isn’t true, when it comes to guitar perfect practice makes perfect. That means taking your time and working through songs or exercises slowly until you have them down. Keep your focus and work hard, if you start to get frustrated try going over something you already know or taking a break.

Focus on the Small Things
If you are having trouble with a particular chord or riff in a song, focus on that part alone and keep repeating it. Repetition is definitely part of the formula to success on guitar and just about anything else in life. Once you get that one small part down move onto the next thing. Remember take it one chord, note, riff, at a time and you will get there. So there you have, 4 really easy things to help you improve your playing. Remember, the slower you go the faster you will get there!
